| Useful Numbers |
The biggest revelation was that in general residents said they felt the council should be better informed of what was going wrong on the street - it was assumed that damaged seats, broken lights, dog fouling and rubbish dumping were all known and that the council was inefficiently slow in putting things right.
The Environmental Rangers are part of that answer. Employed and backed by the councils'
Environmental Health team they are out and about seven days a week. They have
received comprehensive training in what to look out for and very importantly
where to report problems.
They will be able to report those who dump rubbish, and those who don't clear up
after their dogs either through court action or fixed penalty notices which levy
a £50 fine payable to the Borough council.
They will need your help to identify offenders - the Rangers will be on the look-out - but with your help they stand a better chance of success.
What you can expect from the Rangers:
| A lot of honest effort to make a difference. | |
| Swift reporting of problems to those Borough and County departments that can put them right. | |
| Effort to report those who break byelaws. | |
| Issue fixed penalty notices for dog fouling and littering. | |
| Support and facilitate community activities to improve the environment. |
What the Rangers expect from You:
| Courtesy, practical help and information. |
